Day 12 - Cowichan Native Village in Duncan, Victoria Island
06:15am
Keep quiet no-one will know.
Dozed for a while until Mary got up and went for her daily fact finding mission - to the hot tub.
Cowichan Indian Village
Going to Duncan today to see the Cowichan Indian Village. Again, due to lack of proper signs, we took a delightful but uneventful detour via Cowichan Bay.
Found the place eventually, having stopped for view over the bay and islands, and spent a peaceful 2 hours plus soaking up the history. Very good multi media show and some totem poles, native carvings etc. We even had lunch at around the right time! I was persuaded to have the Indian Herbal Tea - not bad at all. Mary bought a Thunderbird and a Hummingbird - both made of wood and carved locally.
3pm-ish Shopping Again
Back to Victoria (stopping for photos at one place we had missed) and the great shopping expeditions. I bought 2 pairs of shorts, so did Mary. The girls bought beads and earring-making stuff.
5ish - Got the washing done at the Laundromat but no drying 'cos taking too long. Will do it tomorrow when we get up (Laundromat opens at 7am)
7pm-ish The Continuing Search for Food!
Found somewhere to eat - 4th floor Eaton Square. Loads to chose from - Subs, Icecream, Greek, New York etc few! Manchu Wok was chosen $25 the lot. Mary also managed to buy a top. Whilst I was waiting for them, talked to (well, was talked at by) a South African Black and a Moroccan, both talking Arabic, French Canadian (& English for me) Girls were impressed!
Back to Base and a sorry tale
Back to base with pop, wine and Nachos. No corkscrew so had to send out for it. Maid brought one! On my own now after Cable till 11.
Oh yes, I forgot. This morning Lucy announced that not only had she left her towel in Jasper, but also her new jeans and a necklace bought in Banff. This necessitated a long distance call to Tekarro Lodge, who had found it (and Katie's CD that Lucy had been listening to!) They agreed to forward them to Vancouver to our hotel there - taking our Visa number for payment. We then had to ring the hotel in Vancouver to warn them - no problem!
(Lucy has taken some stick over this today)
