Day 9 leaving Alberta - Jasper to Clearwater

8:05am  Gently fell awake.
Everything went smoothly as regards breakfast and packing, photos of cabin etc. Quick trip to Jasper to fill up with petrol - right to brim and packet of sweets $26 (approx 36 litres). Thence on our way - it is a very hot day again.

Fairly uneventful journey, lots of wonderful scenery.

Mount Robson  Stopped at the Visitor's Centre at Mt Robson. I must say that this is a glorious location and Mt Robson is exceptionally photogenic. As we walked to the Coffee Shop, we passed a eucalyptus tree. In it were lots of Hummingbirds! After a drink and a sticky bun, put long lens on camera and took photos as they were feeding from the 'nectar' dispenser.

"Downhill" all the way  Uneventful journey after that, gradually moving 'downhill' with mountains getting smaller. We have gained an hour as soon as we crossed into BC as it uses Pacific Standard Time.

Stopped at a river where salmon were spawning and took a few photos. They (the salmon) were very big, 2-3 feet long. Every time we get out of the car we realise how hot everywhere is. The air conditioning in the car is fantastic.

Clearwater at last  2:30pm. Eventually reached Clearwater just as the local radio station was playing a Credance Clearwater Revival record - spooky!

Luckily, even though only 2:30ish the room was ready so we could unpack the car. Next, to the 'town centre' to get food from the 'hypermarket' (I don't think so), up to the visitors centre to get our bearings. Everything to see in Wells Gray Park is at least 16km away and the heat is almost unbearable, (also states take insect repellant) so we found a spot beside the lake and ate our sandwiches.

Back to the motel, I chilled out in a wonderfully air conditioned room. The others went and sunbathed near the hot tub!
They all came back eventually and we watched cable 'for a while'.

7:50pm The search for food  Then I noticed it was 7:50 and time for tea. The restaurant attached seemed to be OK but was full. Drove round the 'town' and eventually settled on the Caboose Restaurant - food OK but service was very slow. Apparently the smoking side was very busy. Had a laugh about this, watching people getting starter and main course together; having to take home a pizza in a carry out because it came too late etc etc. Even the girl showing people to their seat didn't make it obvious, so that 3 times she walked down the restaurant expecting people to follow her - but they were still standing by the door!

Eventually back at the motel, all full again. Watched 2 episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus on cable and went to bed 11ish.
